Off the grid Power

Back

A singel 90 watt solar panel seems to provide all the power necessary to run the Observatory all night.  Unsure this would be enough power, I erected a rack that could hold another panel, but it’s never been necessary to add one.  The power is stored in six golf cart batteries.  Each is 6VDC so two are connected in series to provide three 12VDC circuts.  One circut powers the dome and shutter motors; the second powers the mount; and the third powers everything else like the lights, computer, cameras, fans, focuser, etc.  A RigRunner internet controlled DC distribution box is attached to the pier.
